My paintings are on canvas stretched over forms. The forms are constructed by cutting Styrofoam insulation panels to shape and then gluing the panels together. Additional pieces are then added to reinforce and stiffen the form, and a single board is added to hold the hangers. Canvas panels are then cut to the same shapes an sewn together to make a 'bag' that exactly fits over the form. The 'bag' is then stapled onto the form, which has small grooves in it to accept the seams in the canvas and prevent bulges. Finally, the canvas is sized with gesso which shrinks it into a tight fit over the form. Now I can start painting.
